10 Bonfire Night Safety Tips
Fireman Sam wants every child and family to be safe this Bonfire Night and he’s released a series of tips so boys and girls aware of the dangers. Tip 1: If you’re making a bonfire, make sure you build it well away from houses, garages, sheds, fences, overhead trees, fences and shrubs, and always away from fireworks!
Tip 2: When you build a bonfire, always make sure you build it so it is stable. Never light it with a flammable liquid!
Tip 3: Make sure you keep everyone away from the fire and children must be supervised at all times.
Tip 4: Always make sure you have a bucket of water or fire extinguisher ready in case of emergencies.
Tip 5: At the end of your bonfire party, pour water on the embers before leaving.
Tip 6: Always keep your fireworks in a closed metal box and take them out one at a time.
Tip 7: When using fireworks, always follow the instructions and if it’s dark read them by torchlight, never by a naked flame!
Tip 8: Always light fireworks at arm’s length with a safety firework lighter and never return to a lit firework.
Tip 9: Always hold sparklers at arm’s length and wear gloves when handling them. Once you’ve finished, put them in a bucket of water.
Tip 10: Never give sparklers to children under 5 and never let children run with them.
