All schools in England and Wales to be fitted with fire sprinklers… do you mean to say they are NOT?!
Fire chiefs today have called for all schools in England and Northern Ireland to be fitted with fire sprinklers as the London Fire commission accuses the government of playing with children’s lives.
The call to action has revealed yet another difference between Scotland, Wales and England, as sprinklers are already mandatory across the Welsh and Scottish borders.
The real surprise for many parents will be that they probably took it for granted that sprinklers were already fitted, especially with so many multi-level schools in the country.
Yes it’s a fact that generally fire alarms would be enough as when pupils are present, everyone will be able to evacuate. BUT with over 700 school fires a year, many of which totally destroy the buildings, why have they not been fitted before?
Parents, ask your school if they are fitted today!
