Alligator Drags Tot into Water Near Disney
Our thoughts are with the family of a two-year-old boy who’s gone missing after being dragged into the water by an alligator near Florida’s Disney resort, turning their family holiday into a horror. We can’t imagine what his parents must be going through! The boy’s frantic dad had tried to tackle the alligator before it made off with his son.
The family with three children were staying at the Grand Floridian hotel owned by Disney and were relaxing by a lagoon when the terrifying incident happened late on Tuesday. As the BBC reports, the boy's father entered the water and tried in vain to grab him from the alligator.
A total of 50 police and wildlife experts were searching for the boy. A Disney spokeswoman is quoted as saying the company was "devastated" by the incident, while state wildlife officials say alligators live across Florida and are a "fundamental part" of its wetlands, swamps, rivers and lakes. The Grand Floridian is a luxury resort near Disney's Magic Kingdom Park. A total of 22 people have been killed by alligators in Florida since 1948.
We hope the little boy is found soon.
