BAFTA Film Awards Nominations Revealed
Actor Eddie Redmayne leads the way for the Brits as this year’s BAFTA Film Awards nominations are revealed. This is the second time Redmayne has been nominated for a BAFTA, this time for his leading actor role in the transgender movie “The Danish Girl”. The actor will go up against the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon for the award, also nominated for their leading actor roles in “The Revenant” and “The Martian”.
Other Brits nominated for an award include Dame Maggie Smith for leading actress in “The Lady In The Van” and Kate Winslet and Julie Walters for their supporting actress roles in “Steve Jobs” and “Brooklyn”. Mark Rylance and Idris Elba will go head to head in the best supporting actor category for their parts in “Bridge of Spies” and “Beast of No Nation”.
“Bridge of Spies” and “Carol” were top of the film nominations receiving nine each, with “The Revenant” receiving eight. “Mad Max: Fury Road” gained seven nominations, whilst “Brooklyn” and “The Martian” obtained six nominations each, but “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” received only four nominations despite being the highest ever grossing film in the US.
