Bargain-hunters warned to beware
Are you a self-proclaimed bargain-hunter? There’s nothing like the satisfaction of bagging money off on products, is there? And if you’re anything like the team at UKMums.TV, you’re already looking forward to Black Friday offers next week. But watch out!
Shoppers searching for bargains before Christmas are being told to beware of so-called deals. A revealing study by consumer group Which? has found that as many as half, HALF, of Black Friday deals are not what they’re cracked up to be and some products even go up in price during the discount period! How can that be?
Which? followed last year’s Black Friday bargain claims and found some prices fell further soon afterwards, while other ‘deals’ made products more expensive than they had been in earlier. Researchers at Which? made the shocking discovery while tracking deals for 20 gadgets and home appliances from a range of well-known stores for three months before and two months after Black Friday last year. They found 49 per cent of the products ‘on offer’ were actually cheaper before or after Black Friday and fewer than one in ten Black Friday discounts were cheaper than any other day!
The advice from Which? is to do your research. Has this news made you think twice about shopping for deals? How do you make sure you’re getting the best deal possible? We’d love to know! Tell us over on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
