Could laughing with your kids help to relieve stress?
It’s no joke that many parents need to learn a lesson from their little ones and laugh more during the day. In the UK, half of parents only laugh once a day with their children or not at all and many find it difficult to find ways of keeping their kids entertained. Research by intu shopping centres found that two thirds of adults believed that laughter was the best form of stress relief. As well as relieving stress, many parents would also agree that laughter has other benefits such as helping you to feel happier in general and boosting relationships with others.
Psychologist Emma Kenny has also highlighted the educational benefits of laughter as the positive effect that it has on people can make it easier for them to learn new things. This is why playing with your children can help them to develop new skills and laughter lets them know that they are in a safe environment to learn.
