Doctor Foster is back!
After what seems like a long, long wait, the highly anticipated drama, Doctor Foster, is back on our screens! And yes it’s more dramatic than ever! The first episode of the second season had us on the edge of our seats the whole way through last night’s episode - let’s just say it was explosive!
Doctor Foster, who is played by the incredible Suranne Jones follows the story of a woman who discovers that her husband is cheating on her. It all stems from the moment in series one where she finds a stray blonde hair on her husband’s jacket.
Series one closed with the dinner party from hell where Gemma Foster finally confronted her husband Simon over his affair with their friends’ 23-year-old daughter Kate. In the final scenes Simon moves to London with his pregnant mistress leaving Gemma and her son Tom to pick up the pieces of their family life.
Two years passes and they’re all back! The second series looks at the return of Gemma Foster’s ex-husband, Simon with his mistress turned wifey Kate as they play happy families. This turns Gemma revengeful as she feels they have not suffered in the way she has suffered!
This series looks at life post-divorce where Gemma and Simon unknowingly use their son as a weapon against one another and their mutual friends must pick a side. In particular, last night viewers were in uproar with one of Gemma’s friends Ros who viewers labelled a “snake” for attending Simon and Kate’s wedding party. I’ve got to say we do agree with that sentiment here!
Overall the new series gives an honest portrayal of the desire for revenge and wanting to appear as the better party after the divorce. The episode closed with a struggle over their son and the audience is left to think has Simon already won?
