Fast food chain serves up kids fitness trackers
Here’s an interesting story that’s caught our eye: McDonald’s is serving up fitness gadgets in kiddies meals! They’re making an appearance in the US and Canada where children’s Happy Meal meal toys have been swapped with colourful wrist-worn pedometers. Here at UKMums.TV we would love to know whether you think they should be brought to the UK, too!
As reported by the Mirror, the ‘Step-it’ gadgets, introduced to coincide with the Rio Olympics, measure steps and blink lights at different speeds depending on the child’s activity level. McDonald's Canada senior marketing manager, Michelle McIImoyle, is quoted as saying: “Step-it is in line with McDonald's general philosophy for Happy Meal toys, which is to make toys that encourage either physical or imagination-based play.”
With the child obesity crisis here in the UK, would you be happy to see the kids pedometers rolled out in McDonald’s restaurants closer to home? Or do you think the move is ironic for a fast food chain? Let us know what you think over on our Facebook and Twitter.
