GBBO is back with more cakes and more innuendos!

Last night fans celebrated the return of The Great British Bake Off! The much loved show is back on our screens with new presenters and judge on Channel 4.

No one can replace the golden duo Mel and Sue but the new version of GBBO is better than expected! Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig presenting the show has been a unexpected hit online with Bake Off fans tweeting about how they were surprisingly enjoying the shows new set up!

The only non-newbie from the BBC version of the show is Paul Hollywood; he was joined alongside Mary Berry’s replacement Prue Leith. Paul seemed to turn over a new and may we say nicer leaf during last night’s episode as he gave out the highest honour compliment- a Hollywood handshake, twice!

This week’s highly anticipated theme was our fave – cake week! The series first showstopper challenge was to create an ‘illusion cake’; a cake that didn’t look like a cake.  Oh my, the cakes were magnificent! Some of the stand out creations included a watermelon, a BLT and even a bowl of noodles!

Steven was crowned the first star baker of the series for his bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich in the showstopper challenge and he deserved it! His creation blew us away! Unfortunately it was the end of the journey for Peter who was eliminated despite his colourful cakes and tropical flavourings.

The only major complaint of the whole show were the newly added ad breaks as viewers moaned that despite extending the show by 15 minutes it left for awkward picking after GBBO had finished as most other programmes had already started. Apart from that fans of the show were thrilled to have the much-loved baking innuendos and they’ve upped it a gear this year as there were baking related puns flying across the programme – we do love a good soggy bottom joke!
