Great British Bake Off: Episode 7
Once again the country came together last night for The Great British Bake Off’s Dessert Week. A favourite for many, Dessert Week has us all drooling each year and last night was no exception.
By now I’m sure all Bake Off fans have their favourite to win and here at UKMums.tv we have been backing Benjamina from day one. This week Benjamina wowed with her flavours and we still have everything crossed for her to go into next week’s quarter finals strong.
Back to the puds… This week we saw collapsing mousses, squidgy Swiss Rolls and a nutty technical challenge.
The Swiss roll signature bake saw Pina Colada, cheesecake and millionaire shortbread flavours all rolled up in a light, fluffy sponge! Poor Tom got off to a bad start with his slightly amateur looking millionaires roulade, this combined with a terrible technical and the dreaded curse of the Star Baker left him at the bottom of the pack and sadly going home.
The unheard of Marjolaine technical challenge drove the bakers truly nutty (who doesn’t love a Bake Off pun!?) but with the best technical results so far the contestants held their own.
This week’s mouth-watering showstopper challenged the bakers to create two lots of miniature mousse cakes. Candice and Jane pushed themselves to their very limits with multiple mousses, cakes and jellies to create but it was Andrew who wowed with his “Millennium wheel of lard” (trust us, it looked a lot better than that sounds) which pushed him to the top of the group to be crowned this week’s Star Baker.
We don’t know about you, but after last night’s episode we are craving something sweet, sticky and totally bad for us. Did you enjoy GBBO last night? Do you think the right person went? Let us know over on Facebook and Twitter.
