How will the Queen celebrate her 90th birthday this weekend?
This weekend the Queen will celebrate her 90th birthday and there are a whole host of events taking place to mark her majesty’s special day.
Today the Queen will attend a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral along with the Duke of Edinburgh, who turns 95 today, and other guests such as David Cameron and Sir David Attenborough. Her majesty will then head to the Governors-General lunch at Buckingham Palace and a gun salute in Hyde Park today will honour Prince Phillip’s birthday.
If you fancy heading down to London on Saturday there’ll be plenty of exciting events to see including a flotilla of 50 vessels making their way down the Thames and the annual Trooping of the Colour ceremony can be watched by the public from The Mall. There will also be an RAF flypast after the ceremony and a gun salute at the Tower of London.
The celebrations will be rounded off with the Patron’s Lunch, a 10,000 person picnic on The Mall which will include guests invited by the Queen herself.
