Johanna Konta first British woman to make semi-finals of Wimbledon in 40 years!
Wimbledon is gripping the nation once again and we can’t get enough of the tournament this year! Did you watch last night’s phenomenal women’s match?
Yesterday saw Johanna Konta become the first British woman to make it to the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 40 years! Can you believe it 40 years!
Johanna Konta beat Romanian second seed Simona Halep in an exciting match to become Britain's first women's Wimbledon semi-finalist since 1977! Konta is now just two victories short from matching Wade's 1977 Wimbledon triumph. With Wade watching from the Royal Box, Konta delivered an incredible performance to beat Halep who is arguably the best all-round women’s player.
On Thursday Konta will take on five-time champion Venus Williams for a place in the final, while today Andy Murray will take on Sam Querrey in the men’s quarter-finals, proving to be a rather extraordinary week for British tennis.
We can’t wait to see Konta perform on Thursday; we hope she brings home a win representing British women in tennis! Will you watch the Williams and Konta in the semi-finals on Thursday?
