According to rumoured proposed protocols, The Duchess of Cambridge might have to curtsey to many of her husband’s family members who are deemed ‘more Royal’
According to The Daily Mail, new protocols will see Kate ranked below William’s blood relatives when alone. Is this tradition that we applaud or outlandishly outdated we ask.
Even though Kate might be our future Queen, she is still considered a ‘lesser royal’ than William’s blood relatives such as Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie who were born royal. These complex traditions are nothing new, having been observed for centuries, and this makes us question if it’s still relevant today.
If recent events are anything to go by, we doubt Kate will mind following the strict rules, as she’s often seen laughing and smiling, is known to be easy going and is obviously a favourite of the Queen. But do we find the protocol puzzling and a little uncomfortable to witness?
This year has seen the royal family’s popularity soar with jubilee celebrations throughout the country. Never before has royal popularity been so high. But could Protocols such as the above quickly tarnish the shine on all things Royal, or could a little bending of the rules make them appear even more approachable?
