Leo finally wins an Oscar
It’s been a long wait for Leonardo DiCaprio, but after being nominated for an Oscar six times we’re pleased to hear that he has finally won one! At last night’s glamorous Oscars awards ceremony DiCaprio won the award for Best Actor for his role in “The Revenant” and it’s safe to say that the internet exploded after he was crowned the winner. Celebrities and Leo fans alike took to Twitter to congratulate him, with the likes of Oprah tweeting “It Happppppened!! bravo Leo! standing O in my p.j's.”
After DiCaprio had made his acceptance speech, which we’re sure he’s been planning for a long time, he received a standing ovation from the star-studded audience. His much anticipated speech included a thank you to his director and co-star Tom Hardy as well as a plea to the world to take action to combat climate change, saying that “The Revenant” was “about man’s relationship to the natural world.”
Other winners last night included Alejandro Inarritu who won Best Director for “The Revenant”, Brie Larson who took the title of Best Actress for her role in “Room” and British singer Sam Smith who won Best Original Song for his song “Writings on the Wall”, the theme song for the latest Bond film “Spectre”.
