Mixed messages: is our beauty regime wrong?
Like us, we’re sure that many of you use moisturisers on a daily basis as part of your morning or night time beauty routine, but do they really benefit our skin?
Many women choose to leave moisturisers and anti-ageing creams out of their regime, such as actress Julie Walters who admitted that she only started to use them when she reached 50. Experts say that using moisturisers on our skin may not actually do as much good as we think, but for most of us the thought of tight, dry skin doesn’t sound appealing. They also suggest that moisturiser is not always necessary to use until we reach a certain age, as many of us have healthy, well-functioning skin that essentially moisturises itself - talk about mixed messages!
44 year old mum Christianne Wolff says that she has never used moisturiser in her life, insisting that it makes her skin look and feel better. She believes that face cream is “a waste of money” and now wants to encourage her six year old daughter to avoid moisturiser when she is older.
