Motorway danger for children during school holidays
A report today has found that there have been an increased number of incidences of pedestrians on UK motorways since the school holidays began, with children putting their lives at risk by playing games such as “chicken”. Children have also been found to be dropping items from bridges above motorways, distracting drivers and putting them in danger.
Police have warned that children are at high risk if they play on or near to busy roads such as motorways, as the traffic would not necessarily be able to stop in time if a child appeared on the road. Parents are being urged to make sure that children are not putting themselves or drivers at risk by playing games involving busy roads.
There are plenty of safe places for children to play this summer, such as at the park or even in the back garden, miles away from the motorway madness being reported to police over the past few weeks.
