Mum’s ‘miracle’ cuddle brings baby ‘back to life’

A baby has been given a second chance after a cuddle from his mum bought him back to life!

Baby Adam Cheshire was born weighing a healthy 7lb 3oz to happy parents Charlotte and Chris, but after only eight hours he was left fighting for his life after a brain infection put him in a coma.

Adam suffered from seizures and turned blue due to his organs failing before slipping into a coma because of a Group B Strep infection. Charlotte and Chris were then told to say their goodbyes and take final photos of their son as doctors didn’t think he would survive.

After being encouraged to hold her son, everyone was amazed when Adam began showing signs of life after a cuddle from his mum. Charlotte told The Telegraph: “He just refused to give up. The moment he opened his eyes was incredible. I knew that if he was waking up, he would survive. Your baby needs to know you are there. Adam is our miracle.”

Doctors had warned Charlotte and Chris that if he survived he could be severely disabled, and even though Adam initially suffered brain damage and still suffers from hearing loss, he has made a miraculous recovery!

Now 16 month old Adam is learning how to walk and Chris is planning to trek for 23 miles – one for each day Adam spent in intensive care, to raise money for the Neo-Natal unit of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. To donate visit:http://www.justgiving.com/WalkingForAdam/2/
