New revealing Diana documentary divides opinion
It has been 20 years already since the Princess Diana’s untimely death, can you believe it! To mark the 20th anniversary a series of documentaries have been released, following the Princess’s life.
Last night Channel 4 aired a controversial documentary called “Diana: In Her Own Words”. The new documentary revealed unseen footage of Diana during her vocal coach lessons between September 1992 and December 1993 at Kensington Palace.
At times it was difficult to watch the very revealing documentary, especially when Diana spoke about her courtship with Charles and how they met just 13 times before getting married! She also spoke candidly about Charles’ relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles and the time she even approached Camilla, and begged her to 'leave my husband alone'. The clips were so intimate that we almost felt like we were over hearing a conversation we shouldn’t be listening to!
After discussions in the UKMums office we were stunned by Diana’s reports of how she felt that she was badly was treated by the royal family; it’s understandable that the documentary has divided opinion!
Last night people took to twitter in outrage against these very personal video clips being shown on prime time TV. In response, Channel 4 has defended their choice to show the clips and have said that they are a matter of ‘public record’.
Do you think Channel 4 made the right decision to show the clips? Or were they too personal to show? Let us know your thoughts on Facebook and Twitter
