Pippa Middleton marries James Matthews in lavish ceremony
One of the most anticipated weddings of the year took place on Saturday as the Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister, Pippa Middleton, tied the knot with her financier boyfriend, James Matthews.
The extravagant wedding took place in the village Bucklebury, which is home to the Middleton family. The village was overrun with royals and celebs alike as they descended upon the small village in West Berkshire for the high society wedding.
After the nuptials, the guests celebrated the wedding in a large glass marquee erected on the Middleton family estate a few miles from the church, it has been said to have cost £100,000! The expense of the lavish wedding didn’t stop there as the dinner hosted 50 bottles of Nyetimber 2010 Blanc de Noir Millington which cost a whopping £56,250!
Pippa wore a bespoke lace-bodice Giles Deacon dress worth £40,000, as for her something old? The bride wore diamond earrings that she wore as a bridesmaid to the royal wedding in 2011. Pippa’s diamond engagement ring alone is reported to have cost £250,000 which is nearly 10 times the budget for the average wedding day.
In addition to Pippa's royal relatives, high profile guests included Donna Air, Roger Federer and James younger brother Spencer, who was a star of British 'structured' reality show Made in Chelsea. At the reception, the seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer even took on royals Princes William and Harry in a game of table tennis, we wonder who won that one?
