Sam Smith set to sing “Spectre” theme song
Sam Smith has confirmed that he has recorded the theme song for the upcoming James Bond movie Spectre. The song is called “Writing’s on the Wall” and has been co-written by the Grammy Award winning British singer himself, making this the first Bond theme song since 1965 to be recorded by a British male solo artist. Smith confirmed the news this morning on his Twitter account, saying that this is “one of the highlights of my career” and that he is “excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy.”
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1, Smith explained: "I'm so relieved to actually talk about this, this has been a top secret mission of my own." He also added that it took him just “20 minutes” to write the song, and film producer Barbara Broccoli and director Sam Mendes “loved it”.
The film will be released on the 26th October, with Daniel Craig starring in his fourth outing as 007. The film also sees the return of stars such as Naomie Harris and Ralph Fiennes from the previous Bond film Skyfall.
