Terry Wogan pulls out of BBC Children In Need
Less than 24 hours before the biggest charity event of the year, BBC veteran presenter Terry Wogan has had to pull out of presenting Children In Need.
The reasoning behind the sudden dropping out of the star is due to a procedure on his back he had to undergo due to doctor’s orders. After such strenuous surgery the presenter could not stand up presenting the marathon show for the six and a half hours it runs for.
In a statement, he said: “I'm going to miss our wonderful, inspiring evening together, but I'll be with you, watching, cheering and donating.”
This will be the first Children In Need that Wogan has missed since it first aired in 1980.
Terry’s replacement has been confirmed as former X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary. The BBC issued a statement saying: "We are incredibly grateful to Dermot for stepping in at such short notice but know he'll do us and Sir Terry proud,"
