Need a little help to get your children to eat their vegetables? A new sweeter broccoli has been launched by Tesco, in a bid to get more kids happily eating their greens.
Most parents will struggle to get kids eating vegetables willingly, so to combat this Tesco will be selling a Scottish-grown Supersweet Broccoli variety with long stems that is hoped will put an end to some dinner table tantrums.
Despite being packed with vitamins and minerals and the UK’s biggest selling ‘green’ veg, little ones aren’t traditionally so keen, but Tesco brassica buyer Jeni Gray thinks this is about to change. She said:
“Finding a sweeter tasting green, especially broccoli, that is likely to be enjoyed by kids has long been a mission for vegetable producers.
“We think that this new sweet variety of broccoli, which is grown in Scotland, will prove to be a real hit not only with kids but also with parents.”
Do you agree? In the past we’ve seen candyfloss flavoured grapes and other attempts to make vegetables a bit more exciting. Could this help more kids eat their greens or should vegetables not taste like sweets?
