The Great British Bake Off winner has been crowned!
If you have been following The Great British Bake Off, you know that the final saw three contestants, Nadiya, Ian and Tamal. For the final showdown, the finalists were tasked to make iced buns for their signature bake, raspberry millefeuille for the technical challenge and for the showstopper, a classic British cake with at least three tiers.
Tamal Ray’s crème patissiere for his toffee and marmalade iced buns failed to set in time causing him to struggle; and Ian Cumming forgot to add sugar to the dough of his spiced buns for the signature bake. Nadiya, the three time “star baker” stole the show as she chose to make a “big fat British wedding cake” decorated in jewels from her own wedding day.
But all this aside Nadiya Hussain was announced as the winner and is now the sixth victor of The Great British Bake Off. Speaking of the experience, she said “Bizarrely, I found the final was one of the least scariest (rounds) and I really enjoyed the experience the most out of all the filming days.”
"The showstopper was a celebration cake, and as I never had my own wedding cake I wanted a proper iced wedding cake."
