The world says goodbye to Cilla Black
Hundreds of people were found on the streets of Liverpool mourning the singer and TV presenter Cilla Black as her funeral cortege made its way to St Mary’s RC Church yesterday.
At the funeral Miss Black’s sons Robert and Ben gave readings along with TV star Paul O’Grady and Christopher Biggins.
Sir Cliff Richard also prepared a speech in which he told the guests that whilst he was making his journey to the church he realised "how much people loved her". Sir Cliff then gave a heartfelt performance of the song Faithful One.
Sir Cliff went on to say "The one thing that hit me originally was that she was a woman of commitment and dedication. She had the determination and above all she had the gift - she was able to do what she set out to do. My memories of Cilla are going to be very, very happy ones."
Cilla Black’s son Robert spoke at the service saying his mother was a “wonderful lady who had touched all our lives and brought joy and laughter to those she knew. Her pure enthusiasm, self-belief and wonderful sense of humour made being with her a joy and a pleasure."
