A look back at fashion and beauty trends through the ages can always be a scary experience – but what current make-up trends will future generations look back and laugh at?
According to new research, heavily pencilled eyebrows – better known as a ‘Scouse Brow’, orange foundation marks and cosmetically enhanced ‘trout pouts’ all top the list as the worst beauty blunders of the 21st century.
The poll of 2,000 by Superdrug also found that fake tan disasters, over-plucked eyebrows and girls wearing too much make-up or blusher are also frowned upon.
Adding Marilyn Monroe-style fake beauty spots, sporting clumpy mascara or letting your roots show are just some of the other things that turn modern women off. And in a blast from the past, wearing dark lip liner over pale lips (in the style of Baywatch’s Pammy Anderson) has definitely not aged well, with ladies voting it the fifth worst make-up mistake others are guilty of.
Whilst 85% of women wisely follow the mantra ‘less is more’ when it comes to applying make-up, over a third of ladies have experienced a disaster after looking in the mirror later in the day and realising they’d made a make-up faux pas.
But never fear ladies – the majority of women surveyed said that they believe they’ve actually got better at applying make-up with age!
Guilty of any of the above blunders? What current beauty or fashion trends can you just not get your head around?
