Two golds for Team GB in medal rush in Rio
Did you manage to catch any of Team GB’s medal wins at the Olympics last night? In a flurry of medals Team GB won two golds and four bronzes on the fifth day in Rio, bringing the team’s medal total up to 12.
British divers Jack Laugher and Chris Mears won a historic gold in the men’s synchronised three metre springboard, becoming Britain’s first ever Olympic diving champions. The pair beat the likes of The United States and China to win gold in the event. Team GB’s second gold of the day came from Joe Clarke in the men’s canoe slalom, who said that his success was a “dream come true”.
The medals did not stop there for Team GB though, as four bronzes were also added to the team’s medal haul yesterday. Chris Froome came third in the cycling time trial whilst Max Whitlock won bronze in the men’s all-round gymnastics. The final two bronze medals were won by Steven Scott in the double trap and Sally Conway in the women’s 70kg judo category.
