UK Churches on Terror Alert
It seems nowhere’s safe anymore and it comes to something when even church leaders here in the UK are told to prepare for an attack. The UKMums.TV team’s been shocked to learn that police have now issued warnings to the country’s 47,000 Christian places of worship, urging church officials to review their security.
The news comes after the killing of an 84-year-old priest by two teenagers in France during mass this week. As the Daily Mail reports, the shocking killing in Normandy was the first known attack claimed by IS inside a church in the West after compiling a hitlist of places of Christian worship. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu is quoted as saying: “Following recent events in France, we are reiterating our protective security advice to Christian places of worship and have circulated specific advice today. We are also taking this opportunity to remind them to review their security arrangements as a precaution.”
