X Factor viewers accuse show of favouritism
Have you been watching X Factor this year? It was the long-awaited final at the weekend and Matt Terry was named the winner. But his big moment has been somewhat overshadowed! Here’s why:
In an X Factor first, one of the series previous contestants - the controversial rapper Honey G who was voted off in the eighth week – made a shock return to the stage perform her debut single which is being released on December 23rd, in direct competition with the winner’s single!!
Honey G’s energetic medley included Will Smith’s Men In Black and Kris Kross’s Jump, two songs which got her through until she was booted off the show, leading to accusations of favouritism on social media from outraged viewers. Reactions reported by the Sun included one which said: “It’s absolutely disgusting that #honeyg was allowed to perform on the #xfactorfinal AND have a single before the winner even does #XFactor”. Another asked: “How is #honeyg allowed to release a single against the winner? It shows they aren’t committed to this year’s winner #XFACTOR #xfactorfinal”
Of her appearance, the rapper whose real name is Anna Georgette Gilford told host Dermot O Leary: “It felt wicked. Just want to plug my single that’s coming out on the 23rd of December, called The Honey G Show.”
