Zika Virus causes many families to rethink travel plans
Are you thinking of travelling to Brazil this summer to watch the Olympics? Or perhaps you’re planning a family break to South America over the summer?
Many families have changed their travel plans for the summer due to the recent outbreak of Zika Virus across Brazil and other areas of South America. As mums, the virus is of particular concern to us as a potential link between the outbreak of Zika and the increase in babies being born with Microcephaly has been found. If you’ve been following the news then you’ll know that Microcephaly can cause babies to be born with below-average head sizes caused by a failure of the brain to grow at a normal rate.
So how can the virus affect us here in the UK or if we travel to affected areas? If you’re concerned, click here for travel advice from the gov.uk website.
If you are heading to Brazil for the Olympics this summer, we hope you keep safe and most of all enjoy the Games!
