5 Top Family Holiday Hot Spots
If you’re still not sure where to go for your summer holiday yet, here are a few suggestions to whet your appetite.
1. Sri Lanka
For families looking for a taste of the exotic, Sri Lanka is perfect. This stunning island has palm-lined beaches and offers great value for money, with plenty to keep the kids occupied if the beaches don’t – take a trip to a tea plantation or one of many temples, or let them try hand carvings for those special mementoes to bring home.
Florida has much to offer with Disney’s Magic Kingdom, SeaWorld, Universal Studios and the Kennedy Space Centre all located in this sunny American state! But it’s not just theme parks – there are clean, sandy beaches too, as well as wildlife parks and bustling cities such as Miami to explore. Plan a multi-base trip and hire a car to see the most possible in the short time you may have.
3. The Algarve
If you prefer somewhere closer to home, then why not try the Algarve? With its huge beaches and family-friendly resorts, this sunny region of Portugal is a big hit. Accommodation for all budgets is available and there’s something for everyone – theme parks, horse riding, golf and water sports, to name but a few.
An ideal family destination, just a short hop over the English Channel and no luggage constraints if you’re travelling by car! Combine Disneyland Paris with a cultural stay in the capital. Or how about touring Normandy and Brittany with their superb coastlines and chateaux a-plenty? The French Alps offer more than just winter skiing, too, with climbing, hiking, mountain biking or cycling along some of the routes of Le Tour, as well as summer skiing on the Tignes and Les Deux Alpes glaciers.
Last but not least, the UK has so much to offer – why go abroad (apart from the weather, of course!) Sandy beaches, fabulous countryside or how about city breaks? With all of the attractions available, they are just as much fun for the kids as they are for mum and dad! There are also numerous holiday parks around the country, both coastal and inland, which offer heaps of activities for all of the family.
