Afternoon Tea at Betty’s Tea Room Harrogate

Afternoon Tea at Betty’s Tea Room Harrogate

Betty’s Afternoon Tea has become legendary over the years. You can visit one of their six Café Tea Rooms for Afternoon Tea any time of day, or add a touch of opulence by reserving a table in the York Belmont Room or Harrogate Imperial Room.

Last Week were lucky enough to visit the Harrogate Tea Room for afternoon tea, see what we thought below.

The Tea Room

Betty’s Harrogate offers you the choice of sitting in the more relaxed café tea room or you can book for a group to sit in the more private imperial suite.

We sat in the back café area but this space is anything but ordinary. The tables were well laid and the room is light, with a nice buzz about it. The staff were dressed in Tea Maid uniforms which adds to the traditional feel of the tea room, they were polite and very accommodating of our needs.

The food

There is no doubt that Betty’s afternoon tea was going to be amazing, which it was. The sandwiches were fresh and the fillings plentiful- we were even given the option of three different chutneys we could have on the side. We were then given clean plates (!) something I see as a must when moving from savoury to sweet.

The scones were full of currents which we love and we were given more than enough yummy homemade jam and clotted cream to go with them.

The stars of the show were the cakes. Unlike a lot of places that serve afternoon tea the cake choices were traditional and things we believe most people would like as much as we did. The Macron was our favourite and we even bough a box to take home!

We highly recommend a trip to one of Betty’s Tea Rooms for afternoon tea, but from past experience we know that their meals and lunches are also just as good!

Make a reservation for afternoon tea after 15th May and you’ll be one of the first to enjoy Betty’s new, luxurious Lady Betty Afternoon Tea. Find out more here
