Best Beaches in the UK
You don’t necessarily have to go abroad to find some of the most beautiful beaches, there are many right here in the UK. To save you having to search around for them, we’ve picked out some of our favourite British beaches for you to explore this summer, all with the coveted Blue Flag Beach Award!
1. Gyllyngvase Beach - Cornwall
Tucked away in the south west corner of the country is Gyllyngvase Beach, a small sandy beach close to the popular Cornish town of Falmouth. The beach café offers some excellent food and drink, especially in the summer, and there’s plenty for the whole family to be involved in such as sailing, surfing and kayaking.
2. Scarborough North Bay - Yorkshire
Described as the wilder of Scarborough’s two beaches, North Bay offers plenty of opportunities for fun activities including jet skiing and surfing. There’s also fun to be had on dry land with a crazy golf course and the Scarborough Open Air Theatre not far off the beach.
3. Southwold Pier Beach - Suffolk
One of Suffolk’s best known resorts, Southwold is a classic British beach with its shingle surface, colourful beach huts and vibrant pier. The beach is backed by a promenade and the town centre is a quick walk away, but if you wish to stay on the beach you can explore the arcade and pavilion that Southwold Pier has to offer.
4. Carbis Bay Beach - Cornwall
Just east of St Ives, Carbis Bay is a picturesque and sheltered beach on the Cornish coast. The beach offers safe swimming and the soft sandy surface is the perfect place to relax in the sun. You could even hire out a beach hut overlooking the bay or enjoy a bite to eat at the nearby restaurant and café.
