Best Fitness Trackers!

Best Fitness Trackers!

It’s a brand new year and as with every new start we look at jumping on the old fitness band wagon! This year we’ve taken a look at some of the best fitness trackers that will help you stay fit and motivated through your fitness quest.

The fitness trackers that we’ve taken a look at can be worn on the wrist, head, show or piece of equipment you are on…in this case a bike! Some are pricier than others but we’ve had a great time testing them out! Here’s how we got on…

1. Fitbit Flex – Price when reviewed £80

The original Fitbit Flex offered the ultimate no frills fitness tracker: it counted sleep and steps in an aesthetically appealing but non-intrusive package. The Flex 2 builds on this but doesn’t over complicate matters, simply adding waterproofing to track swims alongside steps and sleep. It may not offer much in the way of coaching, or really push you hard, but as a first step on the road to a healthy life, it’s hard to find fault with the Flex 2.

2. Garmin – Price when reviewed £109.99

The Garmin Vivosmart HR is our pick for the best fitness tracker on the market right now. It really does everything you’d want from a wearable piece of tech – and more. It tracks all the usual metrics, but it does so with complete accuracy thanks to the built-in GPS. For your money, you get a heart-rate monitor so you can track more vigorous exercise, and it also displays messages and any other notifications from your phone. If you’re a serious fitness aficionado, the Garmin website and app are also brilliant for going granular on your workouts. It is on the expensive side, but we think it’s definitely worth the outlay.

3. SmartHalo - £159.99 from the Apple Store

This one is for the cyclists amongst us! With its circular, award-winning minimalist interface, the SmartHalo® shows the quickest and safest paths to destination, lights the way at night and keeps the bike safe against thieves with its integrated alarm system. It’s the smart biking system cyclists have been waiting for. A series of enhanced fitness features that automatically track and analyse fitness metrics without having to press start or stop, all synched with the Apple Health app.

4. Mitfit Ray – Price when reviewed £41.99

This stylish tracker from Misfit looks great and acts perfectly as a no-frills piece of wearable tech. It can track your steps and sleep patterns expertly and, since it's completely waterproof, you can take it into the pool as well. However, the standout feature is the battery life. While some scream and shout about lasting a few days, this band lasts a whopping six months – yes, months. It means you'll have to change the batteries once in a while, but all told this is a great piece of kit.

5. Terraillon Activi-t Band - £50

The Activi-T Band displays the time, directly synchronized with your smartphone is a fitness tracker that monitors your activity and sleep. When worn on your wrist, it lets you analyse your daily physical activity. During the day, it measures steps, distance and calories burned. Connected to the Wellness Coach application, users can directly monitor their progress on an OLED screen, synchronise their data on the application and share their results on the move. 6. TICKR X - £64.99

The TICKR X is the ultimate heart rate monitor and workout tracker, capturing both motion and intensity to give you the most effective workout.
