Best Holiday Destination – Rio de Janeiro
If you’re still not sure where to go for your summer holiday, why not take a trip to Rio? With the 2016 Olympics sure to be setting off parties in the streets, this would be a holiday you would never forget!
1. The Olympics
With the Olympics due to be taking place this year in Brazil, you may have to pay slightly more to visit this South American paradise. This doesn’t mean, however, that the extra money isn’t worth it. The Olympics, just like the football a few years before, promise to bring a carnival atmosphere to the country.
Even if you don’t have tickets it would be worth visiting any stadiums local to where you’re staying. Tickets are still available for some events but it may be difficult to get your hands on a pair for some of the bigger sporting spectacles!
2. Copacabana Beach
This beach faces the Atlantic Ocean and is one of the best the city has to offer. With over 21 miles of golden sand it makes for a great walk, with stunning mountains in the background. You can also find many football games and dance parties when strolling across the beach, so make sure you keep an eye out for an opportunity to join in with the fun!
3. The Christ the Redeemer Statue
As an icon in Brazilian culture, the Christ the Redeemer is simply a must see to anyone visiting the city. This artistic masterpiece is one of the hottest tourist destinations in Brazil and it’s easy to see why. Not only do you get the view of the stunning statue up close, but you also get to gaze from the top of Corcovado Mountain, which is an experience in itself.
