1. Bahama Mama
As orange as the Caribbean sunset, you’ll love this Caribbean tipple complete with three different rums and lashings of Kahlua and fruit juice.
• ½ ounce dark rum
• ½ ounce light rum
• ½ ounce Kahlua
• 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
• 3 ounces unsweetened pineapple juice
• Wedge of pineapple or slide of orange
• Maraschino cherry
Shake the rums, kahlua, lemon juice and pineapple juice with ice then strain over crushed ice into a chilled glass. Garnish with a pineapple wedge or orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
For a refreshing drink, why not try a Mojito? It’s Cuba’s signature cocktail and is so simple to put together, with rum and mint the principle ingredients.
• 2 sprigs of mint, plus one for garnish
• 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
• 2 ounce light rum
• 1/2 cup cracked ice
• Club soda
• Lime wedge
In a shaker glass, muddle mint with superfine sugar. Pour in rum and add cracked ice. Shake well. Strain the contents into a tall glass with ice, and then top it off with chilled club soda. Garnish the beverage with a wedge of lime and a sprig of mint and enjoy.
If you love tequila, you’ll adore this classic Mexican cocktail.
• 1 1/2 ounces tequila
• 1/2 ounce triple sec
• 1 ounce fresh lime juice
• Lime wedge for garnish
• Salt or sugar to rim the glass (optional)
If desired, salt the rim of a chilled margarita glass. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and shake well. Strain into the prepared glass with or without fresh ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
