GoodWood Festival of Speed with Ford

GoodWood Festival of Speed with Ford were invited to the GoodWood Festival of Speed from Ford UK to experience the coolest car festival of the year, as well as road test the latest cars from Ford.

For one entire weekend, we were able to test cars to our best ability as well as rub shoulders with some amazing names, whilst venturing into the Ford Pit lane to see cars from across the times from this longstanding brand.

The weekend began with us meeting the team outside the beautiful Goodwood house where a huge variety of cars were laid before our eyes. Including the new Galaxy, Focus ST Diesel, Escort Mexico and RS MK 2! First up, we went for the all-time family favourite the Galaxy.

The all-new Ford Galaxy enhances flexibility with a segment-first feature that raises third-row seats at the push of a button and supports drivers in town and on the highway with advanced technologies including Intelligent Speed Limiter, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, and Front Split View Camera.

Sophisticated engine technology including Ford’s new 210 PS Bi-turbo 2.0-litre TDCi diesel reduces CO2 emissions up to 24 per cent. Ford Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is offered for first time on the Ford Galaxy, delivering enhanced traction and road-holding with a seamless transition between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive performance.

Next we had a little fun and had a drive in the faster RS Diesel – we’d never been in a car so new and it was love at first drive! The new model was sleek, speedy but still maintained its very safe feeling that you have from all Fords (I currently drive a Fiesta, so I’m already a big fan!) unfortunately not all cars were there to test drive, but it really didn’t matter as we had so much fun! The best part was that although we were testing these from a parental perspective, the instructor said we could ‘give it as much beans as we liked’ and we did just that! The RS has so much potential from a sportier family car; it’s both suitable for mum who would need space for the buggy and the shopping whilst it really packs a punch when you put your foot down for Dad!

At the heart of the Ford Focus RS is a specially developed 305PS version of Ford’s Duratec 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine. Four-wheel-drive setups were discarded as heavy and complicated and the Focus RS sports front wheel drive and the revolutionary RevoKnuckle fron

t suspension to reduce torque steer. Although capable of 0 – 62mph in just 5.9 seconds, and a top speed of 163mph, the Focus RS is still refined enough for everyday driving and provides a complete package of RS excitement and road going civility.
Once we had a couple of hours ‘playing’ in the cars, it was on for drinks and dinner. We were shown to our room in the manor which was just beautiful. Drinks were on the terrace and we had the opportunity to meet other journalists who were true car enthusiasts and find out more about what they thought to the cars.

Next was a beautiful dinner consisting of Pigeon Terrine, Lobster Ravioli and a glass of red wine for pudding for me! The food was simply divine to say the least – but the company was lovely too. The Ford team sorted so much out for us and were very accommodating so we must say a HUGE thank you to them from all at Then after a great night’s sleep…it was on to the Festival of Speed!!

Sunday was an early start but it was so we could appreciate the whole day at the festival – which was so worth it! We arrived into the festival and were given free rein to wander around the event taking pictures. It was simply brilliant with Motocross events, classic car shows, drag races and much, much more!
