Take a trip down to the cinema or even just put your feet up at home with a bag of popcorn while we take you through the new film releases for January 2017. With movies for all ages, we have all the information you need to decide what film you would like to watch for a date night or just a film night at home.

1. Hidden Figures – Friday 6th January

This film is set in 1962 and is based around NASA mathematicians Katherine Johnson and Mary Jackson who worked together to help astronaut John Glenn into orbit. A stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence.

2. A Monster Calls – Friday 6th January

Based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel by Patrick Ness (the Chaos Walking trilogy). Liam Neeson stars in performance-capture and voiceover as the nocturnally visiting monster of the title. The story is centred around 12-year-old Conor who attempts to deal with his mother’s illness and his bullying classmates by escaping into the fantastical world of monsters. It’s perfect for all ages, especially children!

3. The Book of Love – Friday 13th January

After tragedy strikes, Henry befriends a tenacious young girl, Maisie Williams, and discovers she is building a raft to sail across the Atlantic to find her lost father. Along with some unlikely friends, they set off to rebuild their lives together. An amazing family drama!

4. The Bye Bye Man – Friday 13th January

If you’re into horror and thriller movies, why not spend your unlucky Friday 13th watching this film called The Bye Bye Man? This horror exposes the evil behind the most unspeakable acts committed by man. When three college friends stumble upon the horrific origins of the Bye Bye Man (once he gets inside your head, he takes control) is there a way to escape his possession?

5. Patriots Day – Friday 13th January

Patriots Day is based on accounts from the 2013 bombings, which killed three and injured 264 others. In the aftermath of the attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders played by Mark Wahlberg joins courageous survivors in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Building suspense throughout the film, this drama also celebrates the strength of the people in Boston.
