St. Patrick’s Day Events in the UK
St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most popular days in the calendar, with events being celebrated throughout the world by people of Irish descent. St. Patrick’s Day is also celebrated by others to appreciate Irish culture (and to party)! Here are just a handful of events that are going on across the week of St. Patrick’s Day.
1. Festival in Trafalgar Square - For the best St. Patrick’s Day festival that London has to offer, why not attend the free St Patrick’s Day festival in Trafalgar Square? Families can take part in a selection of activities, with an Irish food market, comedy, music and much more! This year, the Trafalgar Square Festival takes place on 13th March, so don’t miss out!
2. St Patrick’s Day Parade, Manchester - Manchester lays claim to one of the UK’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day parades with more than 70 floats, bands and marching groups parading through the streets. It starts at 11.45am on the Sunday before St. Patricks Day (13th March 2016) and is part of Manchester’s two-week long Irish Festival of music, dance, food and more! (4th March - 18th March 2016).
3. St. Patrick’s Day, Birmingham - Birmingham goes all out for St. Patrick’s Day and it regularly attracts over 100,000 people for the parade. This year, the parade runs from noon to 2pm on 13th March featuring at least 60 floats and more than 1,000 marchers and will be the finale of a week-long Irish Festival.
