Strictly line-up revealed!
It’s that time of year again! Strictly has revealed the line-up for the new series which includes some very famous faces!
In past years, Strictly has come under fire from critics saying the show didn’t have enough well-known celebrities, however this year’s contestants include some well-known singers, actresses and even Olympians!
The series begins this Saturday and the celebs will be matched to their dance partners. And don’t worry there haven’t been many changes to the rest of the cast – Tess Daley and Bruce Forsyth will be back to host, whilst returning judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and the one we love to hate Craig Revel Horwood will be joined by former ballerina Darcey Bussell.
And for the complete who’s who of Strictly 2012 read our full guide to the contestants below:
Johnny Ball – The much loved children’s tv presenter is the oldest contestant this year at 74 and although you might think daughter Zoe might give him a helping hand in the vote when she presents Strictly spin-off Take Two, Johnny says she will remain impartial.
Fern Britton – We’re really happy Fern’s appearing as we’ve not seen much of her recently. She’s one of the most well-known personalities so might get through the first rounds through likeability alone!
Louis Smith – This Olympian has just won silver in the London 2012 gymnastics so we’re expecting to see all kinds of tricks and special moves on the dance floor.
Victoria Pendelton – Although Victoria has just retired from cycling, this gold medallist hasn’t lost her appetite for competition. She says she has no dance experience and that Louis is her biggest rival.
Jerry Hall – The former supermodel might not fear looking good in the costumes and is no stranger to performing to large audiences, but we’ve never seen her dance. She could be one to watch!
Kimberley Walsh – We’re not sure if it’s fair that Kimberley has so much experience as she’s used to dancing to millions with Girls Aloud. But that’s not stopped her getting in some last minute practise as she tweeted a photo of her dancing with Anton du Beke at the weekend.
Michael Vaughan – Michael might not be well known for his fancy footwork on the pitch but we could be surprised as fellow England cricketer Darren Gough’s fancy footsteps helped him win series three in 2005.
Lisa Riley – The much loved ex-Emmerdale star has been sorely missed from the small screen after having a break to do some theatre work. She’s better known for her acting and we think there might be some tough critics looking out, after all she did present You’ve Been Framed!
Denise Van Outen – Here’s another star who’s no stranger to dancing. Denise has been appeared in world famous musicals including Chicago in the West End and Broadway so she’s already leaps ahead of some contestants.
Colin Salmon – Colin is best known for his role as Charles Robinson in the Bond films, however he won’t be able to rely on any gadgets on the dance floor. We think he could sneak into the final!
Sid Owen – Sid is no stranger to reality tv having already appeared on I’m a Celebrity in 2005 coming third when his personality won the nation over, although the ex-Eastender won’t be able to rely on his cockney charm alone this time.
Nicky Byrne – The Westlife star won’t be phased by huge audiences as like other contestants he’s used to performing to millions. However, it’s been a long time since we saw Nicky dance with the band – has he been conserving his energy for the show?!
Dani Harmer – The child actress is most widely known for appearing in kid’s tv show Tracey Beaker – however after debuting at just six-years-old, Dani has performed in countless musicals around the country so might be a step ahead already.
Richard Arnold – The daybreak presenter will have no problem with the early morning rehearsals as he’s used to the early starts, but how will he fit in dance practise with the day job?
What do you think of the line-up? Will you be watching?
