The Queen is turning 90!
The Queen will be celebrating her 90th birthday on the 21st April so we thought we’d take a look at some of the events that will be taking place over the next few months to mark the day!
1. The Royal Windsor Horse Show and the Queen’s 90th Birthday Pageant
From the 12th-15th May the Queen will celebrate in style with four nights of festivities at Windsor Castle. The celebrations are set to feature 900 horses and 1,500 performers with some of the best British talent on display. To top it all off the final night of performances will be broadcast on ITV and presented by the nation’s favourite duo Ant and Dec, with the Queen herself in attendance.
2. Trooping the Colour
The 11th June is the Queen’s official birthday and this is when the traditional Trooping the Colour parade will take place. Regiments from the British and Commonwealth armies will parade down The Mall towards Buckingham Palace whilst the monarch is joined by the royal family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace for a fly past. If you want a glimpse of the Queen then head down to The Mall on this day!
3. The Patron’s Lunch
On Sunday 12th June 10,000 lucky invitees will be joined by the Queen on The Mall for what has been named as the “biggest street party the nation will have ever seen”. If you’re not one of the Queen’s lucky guests but still want to soak up some of the party atmosphere, then the event will be broadcast on large screens in Green Park and St James’s Park where there’s likely to be a festival-themed atmosphere. You can find out more about The Patron’s Lunch here! (www.thepatronslunch.com/)
4. Street Parties
Many people are hoping that The Patron’s Lunch will reignite the feeling of community spirit in towns and villages across the country and people will come together to host their own street parties. A street party is a great way to celebrate the day with your friends and family and it’s guaranteed to bring a party atmosphere to your neighbourhood!
