It’s the summer which means there are plenty of films due to be released on the horizon. Read on for our pick of the best movies for adults and kids to watch on the big screen this month. You’re bound to find something worth making a trip to the cinema for!

1. Suicide Squad - 5th August
In this latest DC Comics movie franchise, a mix of well-known and unknown villains, Deadshot, King Shark, Captain Boomerang and Harley Quinn, are recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed too dangerous for superheroes. To take on the task, the historically independent operators must bury their own interpersonal conflicts and agendas.

2. Pete’s Dragon - 12th August
This film features the adventures of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot, who happens to be a dragon. Grace, an 11-year-old girl whose father owns the local lumber mill, sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.

3. Kubo and the Two Strings - 19th August
This epic action-adventure from acclaimed animation studio LAIKA is sure to be a hit with children and adults alike. It shows the kind-hearted Kubo, voiced by Art Parkinson, eke out a humble living, telling stories to the people of his seaside town. But his relatively quiet existence is shattered when he accidentally summons a spirit from his past.

4. Mechanic: Resurrection - 26th August
This is a film for adults who love a Jason Statham film! Here he plays Arthur Bishop who returns as the Mechanic in the sequel to the 2011 action thriller. When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman, played by Jessica Alba, force him to return to the life he left behind, he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.
