It’s coming up to Easter and you’re probably under pressure to fill your child’s time off school with entertaining treats that aren’t calorific! They’ll surely be tempted away from their sweet treats with some time out watching a film or DVD on TV. We’ve picked out a few suggestions to help you here:

Smurfs: The Lost Village (PG)

If you can tear them away from all that Easter chocolate, how about a trip to the cinema with the kids? Young fans of the Smurfs will no doubt have fun watching this fully-animated all-new take on the Smurfs story. It’s been showing in cinemas since March 31st and features a big hunt, perfect for Easter, but with no Easter egg in sight! Smurfs: The Lost Village sees Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty follow a mysterious map which takes them on an exciting and thrilling race through the Forbidden Forest which is filled with magical creatures. Their quest is to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does and it leads to discover the biggest secret in Smurf history!

It’s time to bring out the Easter classics from the DVD cupboard and this one’s perfect for kids! Released on the big screen in 2011, Hop tells the comic story of E.B., the Easter Bunny’s teenage son (voiced by Russell Brand) as he heads to Hollywood, determined to become a drummer in a rock ‘n’ roll band. In LA, he’s taken in by Fred after he’s hit by a car. And in true Easter fashion there’s a moral to the story, both learn what it takes to finally grow up. Paw Patrol: Pups Save the Easter Egg Hunt

For a shorter watch at home that’s perfect for younger children and tots, there’s an Easter-themed episode of the popular animation Paw Patrol, and it’s only 24 minutes! It’s set at Adventure Bay’s annual Easter Egg hunt and the pups are helping Mayor Goodway with the egg decorating. The hunt for a very special egg leads Ryder and Paw Patrol on an exciting adventure.
