Ways to celebrate Christmas Eve- you might even start a family tradition!

Ways to celebrate Christmas Eve- you might even start a family tradition!

Celebrating Christmas Eve with your family is a really nice way to start the holidays. Try our ideas and you may even start a family tradition!

1. Pajama party

Everyone in the family can open one gift on Christmas Eve. Parents, make sure this gift is a new pair of pajamas. Mum, Dad and Kids call all join in! Get into your new nightwear and all watch a movie. Children find this very exciting and love going to bed in their new PJ’s to wait for Santa to arrive!

2. Christmas Eve hot chocolate and Christmas stories.

Before your little elves head off to bed, spend part of the evening drinking hot chocolate and sharing Christmas stories. Have a range of different toppings available and children can top and decorate their own drink!

3. Carolling

What better way to spread Christmas cheer than to serenade the neighbours? Some families love bundling up after a hearty Christmas Eve dinner and singing in the streets. This can be just family or you can get your friends involved.

4. Stocking scramble.

Pop family names into a hat and just like Secret Santa each family member must pick a name. Take the family to the local supermarket/ department store on Christmas Eve day. Everyone gets a small amount of pocket money and must pick out a last minute stocking filler for their chosen family member- here’s the trick.  You only have 10 minutes to do so! The quirkiest gift opened on Christmas day, wins! This is particularly good for families with older or even grown up children

5. Canapé Party

A canapé party is a lovely way to celebrate Christmas Eve with friends and family. Have the kids help you prepare the snacks during the day and older children can play “bar tender” and help with drinks and cocktails!
