Why choose Florida?
When you say you’re going to Florida everyone thinks its two weeks with Mickey or throwing yourself down a water slide. But what about the other side of Florida, the tranquil beaches, excellent food and value for money you get on the Gulf coast. Here at UKMums.tv we have a thing for the South West, Naples, Fort Myers and Bonita Springs. Read on to find out more;
It’s a bit of a trek as you have to fly into Tampa or Miami, and then drive a couple of hours, or for an alternative take a hop though the city and fly direct to Fort Myers. But it’s worth it!
Where to stay - Hire a house or Condo – they tend to be cheap in the summer as all the “Snow Bird North Americans have flown home – and its might warm for them. Any search engine will find you a selection, with and without their own private pool.
Getting about - This is America you’ll need a car, but gas (as they call it) is cheap and the roads are a pleasure to drive on. You’ll also probably have to drive to the beach.
Best beaches - Fort Myers Beach – Busy with plenty of bars and restaurants along the shore. Great fun for the kids.
Barefoot Beach – this is a local hang out and has a great Doc fords Pizza Bar right on the front. It’s the perfect place to view the sunset too.
Naples Beach – unspoiled miles of white sands, and has regular visits from the local dolphins – it’s also great for a day out to see the historical houses of this famous town
Where to eat – this place really has it all – chain fast foods – Breakfast diners and excellent independently run restaurants. What you’ll always find is great seafood and freshly cooked burgers to die for.
What to do. – beach , bowling, site seeing , boat trips, kayaking in the mangroves , dolphin watching , volleyball on the beach, golf, the odd water park or two and most importantly relaxing with the family.
Our rating as a family holiday – 5 stars - for when you get here – journey - 3 stars
