World Breastfeeding Week!
This World Breastfeeding Week, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is calling for global action to support women to combine breastfeeding and work. Whether a woman is working in the formal, non-formal or home setting, the WABA say that it is necessary that she is allowed her right to breastfeed.
Now this is a very controversial subject, with views on both sides. Some say it is the most natural thing a woman can do, while others feel that it is a private thing and should not be done in public.
But at the workplace level, the WABA has also seen more actions taken to set up breastfeeding or mother-friendly workplaces including awards for breastfeeding-friendly employers, as well as greater mass awareness on working women’s rights to breastfeed.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think that women should be able to breastfeed once they return to work, or do you feel other employees have the right to say whether they would like it to happen or not?
Are you a breastfeeding mother that is currently breastfeeding whilst back at work? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
