Picnic inspiration for summer!
As the weather begins to warm up now is the perfect time to enjoy the sunshine and rustle up some snacks for a picnic!
From pizza slices to sausage rolls and scotch eggs, finger foods are convenient and always go down a storm at picnics! Finger foods all travel well and require no cutlery - just napkins especially if you are taking a pie or chicken drumsticks! Cold boxes and ice packs are an essential to make sure that items normally stored in the fridge stay as cool as possible, so keep pies and any dairy foods packed away until you reach your picnic destination to avoid an upset stomach. Sandwiches are another popular type of snack that are taken to picnics; they can be served hot or cold and can either be sweet or savoury, our favourite has got to be the classic combination of cheese and onion!
Pack plenty of fluids to sip on as you bask in the sunshine! With Wimbledon coming up a bottle of Pimm’s seems appropriate but if you’ve got kids coming along bring bottled water, squash and a few bottles of Honest Kids (1). For you adults driving look for an alcohol free wine such as Botonique (2) which has a refreshing and unique taste! Why not try making your very own mocktail the night before –take a look here for some inspiration! Store your concoction in a bottle and remember to buy disposable cups if needed.
Fill up on an assortment of biscuits for the ultimate sweet treat and several bags of Propercorn (3) aka popcorn. Whether you’ve got a sweet tooth or prefer a savoury snack Propercorn offers a variety of alternative flavours including the not so conventional tomato ketchup for kids, smooth peanut and almond, the traditional combo of sweet and salty and their latest addition, chocolate! Take a look on Waitrose and Ocado for more!
